Valencia's Beaches

Valencia has something many European cities can only dream of: dream city beaches just 15 minutes from the center! No hours-long journey needed – just hop on the metro and you're at the Mediterranean. It doesn't get better than this!

The most famous and popular is Playa de la Malvarrosa – a wide, golden sandy beach stretching for several kilometers. The name comes from the mallows (Malvarrosas) that used to grow here. Today you'll find perfectly maintained sand, clear water, and a lively promenade full of beach bars, restaurants, and ice cream parlors.

In summer, it's packed – in the best way! Volleyball nets, beach bars, people sunbathing, children building sandcastles, and everywhere that relaxed Mediterranean vibe. The promenade (Paseo Marítimo) is perfect for jogging, cycling, or just strolling with a horchata (the typical Valencian drink) in hand.

To the north lies Playa de las Arenas – a bit quieter but just as beautiful. And right behind it is the neighborhood El Cabanyal, a former fishing quarter with colorful houses that has preserved its authentic charm. Here you'll find the city's best paella restaurants – after all, paella was invented on Valencia's coast!

What many don't know: The beach is fantastic even outside high season. In spring and autumn, temperatures are pleasantly warm but not too hot, and you have the beach almost to yourself. Perfect for long walks by the water!
